| “As a contractor, I was always feeling stiffness in my joints after a day of hard work. It was when I started doing regular yoga practice at Yogawerks, that I began to see dramatic changes in my flexibility and how good I began to feel overall. Now, after almost 9 months, I can bounce back from working long hours with no problem. More contractors should take up yoga, they wouldn't have to retire early.” – JS |
"In 1999 a bad case of degenerated disks put an end to my nearly 20 years of yoga practice. I was in such pain that I couldn’t even do child’s pose. For nearly two years, I couldn’t do any exercise at all. Walking and even standing were so painful that at times I had to use a cane to get around…even if it was only a few feet. I was in despair, and thought that my life would never be the same, that I’d never be able to do the things that I loved again. In 2001, determined to recover, I began to take private yoga lessons with Chad Satlow. Doing Astanga yoga was the last thing that I thought I’d ever be able to do. Chad started slowly, just with breathing and gentle stretches. He worked diligently with me, gradually adding poses as I began to regain my strength and flexibility. As important as the yoga was the healing energy that just flows from Chad when he works with you. I believe that this was a key part of my healing. Just as importantly, Chad didn’t let me rely on him. As soon as he felt that I was ready, he moved me from private lessons into a class. Today I am virtually pain free and can do all of the yoga poses that I used to and then some! It’s a wonderful feeling". - SA |
